What actually works

A 30-person e-commerce brand came to us spending $42K/month on paid social with a 1.8x ROAS. They needed to hit 3x to be profitable. We found the problem in the first week: they were running 47 ad creatives, but 89% of spend was going to 6 of them. The other 41 were spending $50-200/day each and converting at 0.4x. They were paying Meta to show bad ads to good audiences. We cut the creative count to 12. Reallocated the budget to winners. Then we did something their previous agency hadn't: we looked at which products people bought after clicking which ads. Their best-performing ad drove clicks to a $29 product with a 4% margin. Their worst-performing ad drove clicks to a $180 product with a 62% margin. We optimized for margin, not ROAS. Within six weeks: ROAS went from 1.8x to 2.9x, and gross profit from paid social increased 74%. The math was always there. Nobody had looked at it from the right angle.
