What actually works

We published 120 blog posts last year. 6 of them drove 81% of our organic traffic. I went back and studied what those 6 had in common. It wasn't word count, publishing cadence, or SEO score. It was specificity. The posts that ranked were answering questions our competitors were afraid to answer publicly. Things like "How much does [our category] actually cost?" and "What happens when [our product] doesn't work?" The posts that flopped were the ones our marketing team could have written without ever talking to a customer. "Top 10 trends in [industry]" and "Why [category] matters in 2026." We've cut our publishing frequency in half this year. Every post now starts with a real question from a sales call or support ticket. Pipeline from content is up 40% with half the volume.

Numbered listicle — generic tips anyone could write
Emojis (🔑 🔖) — filler
Engagement bait — "Save this for later!"
Generic motivational language — "You're just doing it wrong"
Hashtag stacking — #contentmarketing #marketingtips #contentstrategy

The good version shares proprietary data from actual execution. You learn a specific framework: look at what your competitors won't answer, then answer it. The 6 out of 120 stat sticks because it's real and surprising.
